AIMS Commitment to Safety, Equity, and Supporting Immigrant Student Success

In light of recent policy shifts regarding federal immigration laws and the concerns expressed by some of our students and families, we want to take a moment to reaffirm our AIMS unwavering commitment to the safety, equity, and academic success of every student, regardless of immigration status.

At AIMS, we are steadfast in our mission to protect the rights of all our students while fostering a diverse, inclusive, and supportive international community that prepares every child for college and beyond. In California, every student is guaranteed a constitutional right to education. This principle is grounded in the 1982 Supreme Court decision, Plyler v. Doe, which affirmed that all children in the United States—regardless of their immigration status or that of their parents— have the right to a public education.

Our legal, professional, and moral obligations include safeguarding privacy rights, as outlined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). AIMS stands firm in ensuring that our schools remain safe and welcoming spaces for learning and teaching.

We are committed to providing resources to support families navigating challenges related to immigration status. Our website will have a listing of resources including connections with trusted community organizations that offer legal support, mental health services, and other assistance.

Additionally, we stand with our students. Every child deserves access to a quality education and path to success, free from discrimination or fear.

We want to reassure every family and student that your safety and equity in education are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we will continue to provide an environment where every child can thrive academically and personally.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education and for being a vital part of the AIMS community. If you have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
