The AIMS Board of Directors provides governance and oversight for the AIMS K-12 Charter District. The Board is committed to transparency, strong communication with staff and families, and alignment with the AIPCS II MOU during this leadership transition.

  • The qualifications for Directors are generally the ability to attend board meetings, a willingness to actively support and promote the corporation and a dedication to its charitable endeavors. The proven ability to raise sizable donations on behalf of a non-profit organization. The evidence of a lack of conflict of interest between the authorizing board, county board, and/or state board, any other entity doing business with AIMS, or any other organization that has an actual or potential financial interest with AIMS. Any waiver of this clause is subject to a waiver of the board and all applicable laws, including but not limited to “the Brown Act” Cal. Gov. Code. § 54950 et seq.

Steven Leung

Steven Leung is the President of Outstanding Investment Company, Inc., providing property management and investment services in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 14 years. He previously served as Vice President of Sales for Quality Green Building Supplies. A graduate of San Jose State University with a B.S. in Business and Finance, Steven joined the AIMS Board in 2012. As a former Board President, he played a pivotal role in restoring public trust in AIMS and was recognized with a Board Resolution of Commendation for his dedicated service.

Jumoke Hinton

Jumoke Hinton is a dedicated community builder with over 30 years of experience in the Bay Area. She served three terms on the Oakland Unified School District Board of Education from 2008 to 2020, championing Restorative Justice and Race Equity policies. Jumoke is the Co-Founder of the State of Black Education in Oakland (SoBEO), focusing on uplifting Black narratives in education. She holds a B.A. in Black Studies and English from Oberlin College and is a proud mother of four.

DR. Megan Sweet

Dr. Megan Sweet is a career educator with over 25 years of experience as a teacher, school administrator, and district leader. She holds a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and is committed to transforming the education system by empowering educators and prioritizing their well-being. Megan believes in equity, inclusion, and the importance of investing in educators to create meaningful change in schools.

Kimi Kean

Kimi Kean is a passionate public education leader with over two decades of experience in Oakland, CA. As the former principal of Acorn Woodland Elementary, she led the school's transformation into a California Distinguished School. In 2019, Kimi co-founded Families in Action for Quality Education, a nonprofit coalition that empowers underserved families to lead educational transformation. She holds degrees from UC Berkeley and Columbia Teachers College and was a New Leaders Cohort 4 fellow.

Ahsjanae is dedicated to enhancing organizational efficiency and fostering a collaborative work environment.
