Celebrating a New Year at AIMS

Greetings,

We’re thrilled to welcome our AIMS community to a new year of academic achievement and growth. Though the pandemic continues to bring unique challenges to each of us, we remain committed to making this school year an enriching experience for all.

We continue to put our students first with hybrid learning, events, and social opportunities. The AIMS community remains abreast of the COVID-19 situation, and are adjusting our responses accordingly. Our Social Emotional Counselors continue to be available to support the mental health needs of our students - a resource that has proven to be invaluable. At the beginning of the month, we hosted drive-thru rapid COVID-19 testing on both campuses, at no cost to our students, families, and staff. I would like to thank our dedicated staff, and especially our Director of Operations Ms. Magaña. I have been so inspired by the educators who have made it their mission to serve our students. The pandemic has created an unprecedented situation that they have handled with grace. Much like they did with our students, I want to ensure that our educators have the support they need to be successful both in and outside the classroom.

This month, we opened on campus the Eagles’ Rest Wellness Center, a dedicated space designed for relaxation and self-care, a place where mental health and support are a priority. In addition, AIMS began our "masterclass" series, which includes mindfulness meditation, stretching, paper folding, journaling, and other self-care techniques.
What excites me the most is that although I am organizing this, as a community we are working collectively to lead these classes; AIMS educators are sharing a personal part of themselves that is so often overlooked in the classroom. This is only a first step, a part of the overall pivot to prioritizing the mental health of our staff so they can bring their best selves forward.

We look forward to welcoming new students to our award-winning school community. Wellness Goodie Bags

Before we left for winter break, we were pleased to provide our staff members with custom made Wellness Goodie Bags to recognize their contributions to another successful year at AIMS. The bags included items such as ginger tea, Emergen-C, chocolate, lip balm, and lotion. We hope the bags brought warmth and joy to our educators and staff, and look forward to continuing to show our appreciation this year.
Athletics

We’re proud of our AIMS athletes, who wrapped up 2021 with a slam dunk! Our high school participated in all eight possible BACSAC varsity championships and won six. Congratulations to our teams!

"One thing that I love about AIMS is that it provides education in an understandable way to all the students. It provides practical exposure in learning and that's what makes AIMS different from other schools."

- Riffat Akram, Head of School at AIMS Middle School
Despite the challenges of returning to virtual learning, we remain optimistic and hopeful. Together, we will make 2022 an outstanding year.

Wishing you good health!

Respectfully,
